 Been pootling around the house with the macro lens.

A Lacewing, a large black Aphid, a Zygiella x-notata and a Fruit Fly (Drosophila)

Plume Moth

 Spotted on the wall on the stairs. I've been informed its Amblyptilia acanthadactyla (Pterophoridae)

Garden Spider

 This huge female Araneus diadematus has set up her web on my potato plant. It would be rude of me not to get photos...

Some garden macros

 Dug out my macro lens and put on a homemade flash diffuser over the pop up flash. I need to work on it.

The last flower is from a potato plant in the garden!

Birds at Redcar

 Took a trip to Redcar with the family and got some bird shots.

Wet Sky

Went out for a walk with my daughter on Saturday and it poured down all day. Till we got home...typical. Got some good shots though, including this lovely Stratocumulus cloud.

Privet Flowers

Privet is a common sight in urban areas as hedging, but how many notice the flowers?
Not only do they look good but they smell good too!
They also produce black fruit that birds enjoy.
Privet is related to the Olive tree but I wouldn't recommend eating those fruits!

Queen of the New Year

This is an older photo but I think its appropriate to begin the new year with it.
My Thanksgiving Cactus flowered late the first year it matured, not opening till after Christmas!

The Moon and the Maple Tree

I was outside taking night shots with my DSLR and I decided to include the tree near our house in the shot.
I used the pop up flash to light the tree and the long exposure to show the moon and stars.

House Martin in flight

I went into the garden yesterday to photograph some birds, and after many attempts managed to catch a House Martin doing what it does best.
